How to get here

Tucked away on the magical Mozambican shores of Lake Malawi, there are a variety of ways to reach the hidden paradise of Nkwichi.

Free from roads, an Nkwichi boat team will bring you in the final stage of the journey.

Through Malawi (arriving on Likoma Island, a small Malawian island next to the Mozambican coastline)

  • Small charter plane from Lilongwe to Likoma island where Nkwichi’s boat will be waiting for you.. Experience a Fish Eagle’s eye view of the lake. Transfers take 50mins and depart every day.

Through Mozambique (arriving at Cobue, a small village on the lake, where the road ends)

  • 4×4 transfer (or self-drive) from Lichinga to Cobue where Nkwichi’s boat will be waiting on the lake shore. The drive, which takes 4 hours, is one of Africa’s most scenic drives, taking in the Rift Valley escarpment and the coastline of the lake.

Please note: boat transfer depends on lake conditions and there is a risk of winds and rough weather from June – September.

A Sky Full of Stars

With no light pollution for many miles around, Nkwichi’s beach is perfect for stargazing. Gazing at the stars while sitting around a campfire inevitably leads to everybody sharing stories. This is a story that was told that I can not help but sharing with you.
