Nkwichi is an integral part of the Manda Wilderness Project, an initiative designed by Nkwichi’s investors to bring the communities of the area together and help them use their environment and resources sustainably, making sure it brings the concrete benefits they need.
Perhaps the best way to describe the Manda Wilderness Project, and its goals, is to imagine an African three-legged pot, which needs three equally-strong legs to stand. The legs of the Project are:
- Tourism (Nkwichi Lodge): A high quality, low-impact lodge, attracting tourists to the area, training local staff and raising awareness both nationally and internationally.
- Conservation: Preservation of a unspoilt corner of Africa.
- Community Development: Practical help for the people of Northern Mozambique, who suffered 25 years of war and generations of neglect.
Supporting Our Community
We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travellers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination.
If you save just a few kilos of space in your suitcase and bring supplies for an initiative in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.
With no light pollution for many miles around, Nkwichi’s beach is perfect for stargazing. Gazing at the stars while sitting around a campfire inevitably leads to everybody sharing stories. This is a story that was told that I can not help but sharing with you.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay here. Peace, calm, relaxation.. bliss. Every day there was another idyllic spot for lunch and sundowners .. I’ll be back!
